Contemplation of New Year
The new is here, but only by a day (or two).
What difference can it really make, when this day does fall?
We see a marker.
Something new.
A line drawn.
A new past created.
A new beginning started.
But it is only a day,
And whilst some approach the day with vigour and enthusiasm,
Others sit in gloom, morose, contemplating another year passed, lost, wasted.
If this day did fall, at height of summer, doubt you that we would feel and act the same?
Some may be more cheered with summer sun shining on fresh starts.
But would this impact last as summer turned to autumn?
The day we have just passed takes us past winter solstice to days growing longer.
This surely helps, new beginnings to allow?
We start to rise from the shadow of darkness and optimism finds a new footing,
As endless possibilities seem available to us again in this, we hope happy,
New Year.
